United we are strong
As a trade union, we play an important role in the world of work and have a direct influence on working conditions, wages and social progress. We represent employees and want fair working conditions and wages. We also strive for a society in a fairer world, where the focus is no longer on capital but on people's social needs.
We negotiate collective labour agreements (CLAs) with associations and/or employers. A collective labour agreement is always better than the Labour Law. In doing so, we represent the interests of employees and ensure that their concerns are dealt with. Our members are the bedrock of our work. Unia is a contractual partner for around 240 collective labour agreements covering construction, service professions, industry and commerce. Around 1.2 million employees in Switzerland benefit from them.
In addition to our commitment to progressive collective labour agreements, we influence legislation that is relevant to social and socio-political issues. This is how we launch initiatives and political campaigns and organise our members in their workplaces. Where necessary, we make our voices heard on the streets.
Unemployed: what to do? Register immediately as an unemployed person, even if you have just received notice of termination and are still in employment.
Better working conditions and social justice - that's what we want. As a Unia member, you contribute to this. Get involved and help make decisions. Plus: you benefit from services and offers.
